Wound Healing Foundation

An important element of our mission is to advance the quality of wound care worldwide through funding and outreach. In 2015, the WHF board volunteered over 3,400 hours for the dedicated purpose of bringing awareness and funding to the wound healing community.

These awards are made possible by generous contributions from supporters like you. Generous contributions not only help students and researchers around the world, but also the wound healing community in general, bringing better care to individuals with acute and chronic wounds, as well as those wounds with excess scarring. Here is an overview of several programs of special interest:

Grants Sponsored by Urgo Medical

The WHF has partnered with Urgo North America for the

Second Annual Marty Robson Burn Wound Infection Research Grant of $15,000

Call for Proposals due Tuesday June 4, 2024

Outreach Program

Patient oriented outreach began in 2013 and consists of providing free informational resources, educational sessions and recognition awards. Our goal for this program is $100,000.

Wounded Warrior Athlete Initiative

Created by the WHF in 2013 to promote optimal wound and skin care amongst competitors from the armed forces with service-related injuries competing in Olympic-style competitions each year. Corporate partners EltaMD and Swiss-American Products support the distribution of warrior care kits at the Warrior Games and Invictus Games.

Online Support Community

Launched Spring 2016, the Wound Healing Support Community is a resource developed in partnership with Inspire to help affected patients and caregivers share support and information. Come join the conversation.

Educational Resources

The lack of patient oriented informational resources on wounds and healing has prompted the Wound Healing Foundation to develop free web based information, educational sessions and other resources for patients, their families and caregivers. The Foundation is currently developing these to be free and downloadable.

The Foundation is also developing free web based information, educational sessions and other resources for non-wound care clinicians. Virtual educational sessions for clinicians in developing countries are also being created.

Scientific inquiry into wound healing is far from complete, and, consequently, the knowledge base is continually being enriched by input from clinicians and researchers.
